Is this the best pig shelter for two pigs on 1.5 acres? I talk about what I like and don't like about my pig shelter I built.

About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on UZpost videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

I used to use zip ties but over time the sunlight would break them down. I now have moved to old electric scrap wire with the cover still on. So far they have not failed. In fact this has inspired me to do a video on zip ties. You do great work man!

Jason, I know that you already expressed your true feelings on the day the Bacon Brothers took off for the road but for we viewers, it made a great dramatic video. And no, I'm not wishing another day like that on you. Truly a fan of your caontent! :)

We get our pigs in October November and raise them till April may.. But its hot in Texas.. Pigs can handle cold far better than heat.. They seem to gain better in the winter months to me.. 4:1 feed to lbs gains

I was wondering if you had put less wood chips in the beginning,if the pigs wouldn’t have gotten up so high. I think it’s a wonderful structure that has so many uses. I’m thinking that Overwintering the chickens could be done.

In my humble, inexperienced opinion, that is a well made and beautiful shelter that can hold about anything!😄 I saw your love for the pigs and their love for you. They were well cared for as all your animals are. I enjoy your whole family! I vote for more pigs!!🐷🐖🐖

Jason i thought you did very well with the build of the pig porch. And your first try with pigs, well done. My only question at this time is how old of pigs will you start with next time. I had originally thought that maybe you might consider getting them a little younger, but I wasn't sure. I like the idea of rotating the pigs. Raise for 6 months, slaughter. Take some time off ( a week or so ) and start over. I see the benefits going way beyond the meat. Being able to turn everything into pork ( spent produce, chicken guts and feathers, etc. ) And the wonderful compost. Yup piggies will be part of the homestead hopefully next year. Have a great day.🌞

if get pigs in the winter will want to have alot of straw to bury themselves in like art and bri when pigs in bottom of the barn. may need a water heater to keep from freezing and a small low tunnel inside of pig port with post and tin so body heat and straw will keep warm.

Put a cattle gate on one end to get a tractor in to add chips and remove chips and poo.. next time find a couple Idaho pasture pigs. They dont root bad at all and forage more because of the turn uped snout so you can leave them out more with less damage to ground and temperament is good...
