My parents grew up during the Depression and had gardens until the early 1980s. I remember asking them why they quit gardening and they said it was too expensive to continue and everything at the supermarket was much cheaper 😞

I want to thank you for the name Bernice. I have one hen left from a batch of layers from years ago - she's living out the rest of her best life with the new batch of layers. So I named her Bernice, as she's the same as your Bernice(s). She has a pal from the new batch of layers, too, who I've named Matilda. Two old fashioned gals, teaching all the others proper chicken decorum. LOL Hope all is well with y'all as you get the arctic blast Mother Nature is bringing.
